England will go into the UEFA European Under-21 Championship play-offs on the back of an eighth successive win after a 3-0 ended the slip hopes of Moldova Moldova.

The visitors, having already wrapped up qualifying Group 1, were a goal up at the break through Saido Berahino's 16th-minute opener. The West Bromwich Albion FC player doubled his and England's tally early in the second half, with Tottenham Hospur FC's Harry Kane rounding off the scoring six minutes from time. Gareth Southgate's side will learn their play-off opponents when the draw is made on Friday.

Berahino broke the deadlock with his eighth goal of the campaign when he met a cross from the right by Nathan Redmond. England's dominance did not result in a second goal until six minutes after the restart, Berahino, having been played through by Kane, slipping the ball beyond Alexei Koşelev. Koşelev was beaten again late on by Kane's shot from the right of the penalty area.
