Sevilla stars raise Poulsen's pulse

Denmark midfielder Christian Poulsen could not resist naming Sevilla FC team-mate Daniel Alves and former coach Juande Ramos in his Team of the Year 2007.

Impressive performances
Poulsen had a great 12 months, including helping Sevilla to win a second successive UEFA Cup in what was his first season since arriving from FC Schalke 04. The 27-year-old former FC København man then proved his UEFA Champions League credentials as his side breezed through the group stage at the first attempt.

Goalkeeper
Iker Casillas (Real Madrid CF)

"He is so important for Real Madrid. He played a great part in their Spanish championship win. Under their new coach, Bernd Schuster, he has been very consistent."

Right-back
Daniel Alves (Sevilla FC)

"I chose my team-mate simply because he is the best in his position. He has an enormous influence on our team. He is very clever both defending and going forward."

Centre-backs
Alessandro Nesta (AC Milan)
Daniel Agger (Liverpool FC)

"Nesta won the Champions League and it is impressive to see him at that very high level year after year. He is pure world-class and an intelligent defender. For his age, 23, Agger is very cool and very courageous. He is in every sense a modern defender. Clever with the ball and with very good vision going forward."

Left-back
Eric Abidal (FC Barcelona)
"His development since he joined Barcelona has been impressive. He is fast and clever with the ball."

Right midfield
Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United FC)
"It feels terrible to have to choose between him and Barcelona's Lionel Messi. I rank them both in the top five in the world. I have picked Ronaldo because he went further in the UEFA Champions League and scores more goals. He is such a fantastic player."

Central midfield
Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal FC)

"Even if he is still young he is so important for the new Arsenal team. His skills are magnificent. He is so good in attack, but also very able defensively."

Attacking midfield
Kaká (AC Milan)

"Look how important he is at Milan. Enough said. He almost wins tournaments for them on his own, including the biggest of them all, the UEFA Champions League. Elegant and effective at the same time."

Left midfield
Clarence Seedorf (AC Milan)
"Even though I don't see him as a natural winger, he is very clever with the ball. I was impressed by how he rose to the occasion in the final stage of the UEFA Champions League last season."

Forwards
Zlatan Ibrahimović (FC Internazionale Milano)
Didier Drogba (Chelsea FC)

"Ibrahimović is a magician with the ball and a fantastic individual talent when he is in the mood. And he continues to improve under the heavy pressure you get at a club like Inter. Drogba just keeps scoring his many goals. He is such a big strong guy, you simply cannot keep him down. He is almost the complete forward."

Coach
Juande Ramos (Tottenham Hotspur FC)

"To win four trophies with a team like Sevilla is a great achievement. He believes in his players and that has an effect on them. He gets the maximum out of them. He is very good at analysing opponents."
