Mladen Perica
Wednesday 2 July 2008Nicknamed ‘Štrla', Croatia coach Mladen Perica first took up futsal in 1982 when he joined a local club in Split and played in lower regional leagues for a decade.
In the last ten years, Perica has moved into coaching and gained experience in charge of Croatian first division club MNK Jadroplov. In 2004 he decided to form his own club, MNK Mejaši, and without financial backing quickly led them into the top division. They remain among the top clubs in Croatia.
That success won him a place on Mićo Martić's national coaching team and he was given responsibility for the Under-21 selection. In the first UEFA European Under-21 Futsal Tournament, Perica's side beat F.Y.R. Macedonia 3-1, drew 2-2 with the Czech Republic and defeated Armenia 14-1 to qualify for the finals on goal difference.
