Aston Villa FC have signed former United States goalkeeper Brad Friedel from Premier League rivals Blackburn Rovers FC for an undisclosed fee.

Undisclosed fee
Reports allege that a €2.5m fee has been paid for the 37-year-old, who has signed a three-year contract following talks with Villa manager Martin O'Neill. The 81-times capped Friedel joined Blackburn from Liverpool FC during the 2000/01 season and made 288 appearances for the Ewood Park side. His move follows a €4.5m switch that took Tottenham Hotspur FC goalkeeper Paul Robinson to Blackburn.
