Kaká was the star of the 2006/07 competition (@Getty Images)The UEFA Club Football Awards are traditionally held on the eve of the UEFA Super Cup, the traditional European season curtain-raiser in Monaco.
2007 winners
AC Milan talisman Kaká collected the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year prize in 2007, and was joined on the podium in Monaco by club-mates Paolo Maldini (Best Defender) and Clarence Seedorf (Best Midfielder) while only the presence of Chelsea FC goalkeeper Petr Čech prevented a Rossoneri clean sweep. New voting procedures were introduced in 2005/06 with the head coaches of the 16 sides which reached the UEFA Champions League knockout rounds all having a say.
