Sagnol doubt for Madrid trip

FC Bayern München defender Willy Sagnol is a severe doubt for the second leg of his side's UEFA Champions League first knockout round tie with Real Madrid CF after breaking his left arm.

Immediate surgery
Sagnol suffered the fracture during his side's 3-1 Bundesliga win against Bayer 04 Leverkusen, and will have immediate surgery. He may take part in the game wearing a special plaster, but Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld is pessimistic.

Hitzfeld's doubts
"We do not know how serious it really is yet, but I do not think he will be able to play against Madrid," said Hitzfeld. Bayern are level at 1-1 with Madrid after the first leg in Munich. Sagnol's fellow French defender Bixente Lizarazu is already out with a thigh injury suffered in the first leg.
