ACF Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu is likely to miss their remaining two UEFA Champions League Group E games after suffering a right knee injury during the 5-2 home victory against Debreceni VSC on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old Romanian scored the first goal in the victory that moved second-placed Fiorentina five points clear of Liverpool FC and played the whole 90 minutes, but a scan on Thursday revealed the extent of his injury. Mutu will undergo surgery later this week and is expected to be out for at least a month. Meanwhile, defender Alessandro Gamberini has been ruled out for three weeks with a thigh problem but goalkeeper Sébastien Frey and forward Stevan Jovetić are recovering from finger and toe injuries respectively. A win at home to leaders Olympique Lyonnais on 24 November will take Fiorentina through, otherwise they could need a point at Liverpool on 9 December.
