Initially constructed for the 2002 Commonwealth Games athletics events, the City of Manchester Stadium was converted for use as a football arena the following year. The 47,726-capacity venue, the fifth largest in the English Premier League, is home to top-flight club Manchester City FC as well as a popular venue for large-scale music concerts. It was also the setting for hosts England's opening game against Finland in UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2005™, the crowd of 29,092 a finals record. On 4 October the following year, it was announced that the stadium would host the 2008 UEFA Cup final.
