McClaren joy at new Twente contract
Tuesday 27 October 2009FC Twente coach Steve McClaren has extended his contract with De Tukkers by another year, signing a new deal keeping him at the club until the end of next season.
'Ambitious'
The former Middlesbrough FC and England manager was appointed in summer 2008 and led Twente to their first top-two Eredivisie placing in 25 years and the Dutch Cup final last season. McClaren's team have continued to make progress this term, sitting two points clear of PSV Eindhoven at the summit and also within two points of UEFA Europa League Group H leaders Fenerbahçe SK ahead of the 5 November visit of FC Sheriff. "FC Twente are an ambitious side and have already shown their ambitions this season," the 48-year-old trainer said. "It is a joy to be working at this club which has good management, staff and players and wants to achieve something."
