Friday 19 December 2008

The new UEFA Europa League comes into being on 22 June 2009 with the draw for the first and second qualifying rounds at UEFA's headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. There are three qualifying rounds and a play-off round before the expanded group stage, featuring 12 groups of four teams who play each other home and away in autumn 2009. The knockout stage follows in spring 2010, with the first final of the new competition taking place at the Arena Hamburg in Germany on 12 May 2010.

Coefficient ranking
A country's representation in the UEFA Europa League is determined by its UEFA coefficient ranking, which is calculated over a five-year basis. The list below is provisional, however, and is subject to final confirmation from UEFA.
