Impressive Israel sweep Slovakia aside
Tuesday 8 May 2007Israel made the best possible start to UEFA European Under-19 Championship Elite round Group 6 with a dominant display against Slovakia in Nes-Ziona.
Goals galore
Zeev Zeltzer's side won all three matches in the qualifying round and began their Elite round campaign in similar fashion, taking an early lead through Maor Bar Buzaglo before Toto Tamuz doubled the advantage midway through the opening period. In front of almost 3,000 supporters at the Nes-Ziona Stadium, the home side increased their lead soon after the interval as Hen Azriel dribbled through to score, before Tamuz provided captain Bebars Natcho with the chance to add a fourth. David Biton, who found the net in all three qualifying-round fixtures, replaced Tamuz with time running out and added two more goals to his tally to round off a highly satisfactory day's work for Israel, who next play Poland on Thursday. Slovakia take on France, 3-1 winners against the Poles today, the same day.
