Terim signs off with a win
Wednesday 14 October 2009Faith Terim stepped down as Turkey coach for the second time after overseeing the fourth victory of his side's FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
First-half goals
Terim announced his intention to vacate the role earlier this week after failing to secure a berth in next year's finals in South Africa. He departs after taking charge of a comfortable triumph which ensures the UEFA EURO 2008™ semi-finalists third place in Group 5 and leaves Armenia bottom with four points to their name. Halil Altıntop got the scoring under way on 16 minutes and Servet Çetin doubled the hosts' advantage just before the half-hour. Ceyhun Gülselam's 33rd-minute dismissal for a second bookable offence made for a more even game but Armenia could find no way back.
