Estonia give Red Devils hell
Wednesday 14 October 2009Raio Piiroja and Konstantin Vassiljev scored the goals as Red Devils coach Dick Advocaat saw his new side at their worst in FIFA World Cup Group 5.
Estonian verve
Dutchman Advocaat earned a 2-0 win at home to Turkey in his first match in charge on Saturday, but his side barely turned up in Tallinn, caught cold by an energetic Estonia. Goalkeeper Logan Bailly turned Vassiljev's free-kick against the post after five minutes, and while Estonia counterpart Sergei Pareiko had to clear a Piiroja miscue off his own line not long afterwards, the captain recovered to head home from a Vassiljev cross on 30 minutes. With Belgium unable to convert possession into chances, Estonia hit them again on the break, as full-back Dmitri Kruglov surged up the flank and squared for Vassiljev to finish on 67 minutes.
