Serbia and the Republic of Ireland will meet in a friendly game at Dublin's Croke Park on 24 May 2008 as the two sides prepare for FIFA World Cup qualifying.

No coaches
With neither team having made it to the finals of UEFA EURO 2008™, they will look to test their options ahead of the start of 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification in the autumn. The two countries have never met in their current forms, although the Republic of Ireland were paired with Yugoslavia in UEFA EURO 2000™ qualifying, losing 1-0 in Belgrade and winning 2-1 in Dublin. Both sides are currently without a coach, with Ireland's Steve Staunton and Serbia's Javier Clemente having left their posts. The Irish will take on Bulgaria, Cyprus, Italy, Georgia and Montenegro in World Cup qualifying Group 8, while Serbia will play Austria, France, Romania, Faroe Islands and Lithuania in Group 7.
