Competition format

The UEFA European Women's Under-17 Championship consists of three distinct stages; two qualifying rounds and the finals.

First qualifying round
The first qualifying round, played in autumn, is made up of ten groups of four teams playing in one-venue mini-tournaments. The winner of each pool progress alongside the six second-placed teams with the best record against nations finishing first and third in their groups.

Second qualifying round and finals
In the second qualifying round  these 16 teams will be split into four groups of four. The first-placed teams progress to the finals in June, where a semi-final round will be followed by a final and third-place match, the top three qualifying for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
