Niki Mäenpää, Finland goalkeeper
It was a game of two halves, I think 1-1 was a fair result. Neither team had that many chances and those were split quite evenly between us and Greece.

We had a good spell early in the second half, when Greece's level dropped a little. It was a good sign that we came back from a goal down, this time we did not win but a point is OK.

There was not too much to do in goal, but I am not entirely satisfied with my own performance, especially with my feet. All in all, I think this will be a very tight group and every point is important.

Niklas Moisander, Finland defender
Greece took the lead with a fantastic shot and it is always difficult to play against teams like Greece when they get ahead. However, we believed in our own ability and also got a result. We gained confidence from the goal and maybe we had the chances to score another, but we must be satisfied even with the 1-1. Anyway, it was an important point for us.

It was great to see Jarkko Hurme score and it was a fantastic goal, but at the end of the day it is not that important who scores the goals.

Mixu Paatelainen, Finland coach
I'm not happy with the Greece goal but it was an excellent shot. Overall I have to be satisfied with a point. We tried to win but we had to settle for a draw. There are lots of talented players in this Greece side, yet we showed good energy and we also have a team which is difficult to beat.

We had a good chance at the beginning of the match from Tim Sparv. It could have changed the way things went. However, I'm satisfied that we came from behind.

Panagiotis Tachtsidis, Greece midfielder
I am not pleased with the result. I think we could and should have taken all three points. But that is how football is, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose and sometimes it is a draw – you do not always get what you deserve.

Finland changed their playing style in the second half and it made it a little different, but I still feel we were the better team throughout the game. This result means we have to focus fully on the match against Northern Ireland on Tuesday.

Claudio Ranieri, Greece coach
We wanted to win and I think we played well. Only in the first 15 minutes of the second half did we defend too deep, but that's OK – we have improved a lot from the first game [a home loss to Romania] and one point is good. We played well, I am very happy with both the young and the experienced players.

I take risks [in picking youngsters] but I know this Finland team well. I wanted to attack and close off the counterattack and I think that Nikos Karelis and [Charis] Mavrias played very well with a good opportunity to score again. It was a calculated risk.

Our goal is to qualify. I said from the first day, if we don't qualify, it is a disaster – for me, for everybody. It was important to get the first point, now we have to think about the next match.
