Goalscorer Bořek Dočkal feels Czech Republic were lucky to win
Pavel Vrba expects Turkey to rally and challenge for second place
Umut Bulut apologises to fans for a defeat Turkey "didn't deserve"
Next games: Latvia v Turkey, Kazakhstan v Czech Republic (Monday)

Bořek Dočkal, Czech Republic midfielder
We were not that great as a team, but we had a little bit more luck. [The plan] was always to stop them scoring, but I think they created more chances than we wanted them to. As I said, we were little bit lucky, but we are good inside our own box and the goalkeeper played well.

It's still too early to make any predictions. This is only the second game. No one is going to get to the finals with six points but it's a great start for us. I don't think many people expected we would have six points after these two games.

Pavel Vrba, Czech Republic coach
Me and my team are so happy about the result. We were so lucky, especially in the first half, because we couldn't get organised and Turkey had a lot of chances. We're so lucky that we didn't concede more than once. But in the second half we were better organised, we created more chances, and finally we scored. But if we had been better with our final ball, we could have scored three or four, though in the end it's such a good result away from home and we're happy about that.

The Netherlands are still the big favourites in this group, and the fact Turkey have not got any points is not a big deal because they are always a very strong team and they can recover. For me, three teams are chasing second place – ourselves, Turkey and Iceland. Getting these two wins on board is a big head start for us, but it is no guarantee of finishing second in this group.

Umut Bulut, Turkey forward
First of all, we are so sorry. I feel we didn't deserve to lose. We had some great chances, especially after the first goal – had we scored one of them, it could have been a lot different. I am really sorry, all the team, we are all really sorry.

We still have eight games to go. You know that the top two teams will qualify and the third will go into a play-off. At the end of the day, there are still 24 more points to play for and we will play to get all 24 of those points. But first we want to win the Latvia game and finally get going.

Fatih Terim, Turkey coach
This is how the match went; after conceding two bad goals, we lost our composure mentally and – especially after the hour mark – physically too. When you concede from your opponents' first attack, it hits you mentally. In the second half, we started off with enthusiasm, but after their second goal, we tailed off mentally and physically.

Of course, we did not expect [to have lost both of our games]. After losing against Iceland, I congratulated our opponents and said they deserved to win, but it is not the same this time. Especially in the first 45 minutes, we played such wonderful football and we deserved to be in front. But in international football, even tiny mistakes get punished.

We're bottom of the group. We have to recover quickly and get some points. We have eight games to play. We cannot abandon hope.
