Denmark take on Armenia in their first UEFA EURO 2016 Group I fixture, with the visitors looking for another famous result against a side they beat 4-0 in Copenhagen in 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying.

Match background
• The sides have met four times in senior international games, with Denmark's record W3 D0 L1 (W1 D0 L1 in Denmark – W2 D0 L0 in Armenia).

• The sides first met in EURO '96 qualifying, Richard Møller Nielsen's Denmark winning 2-0 away and 3-1 at home against Samuel Darbinian's Armenia side. Michael Laudrup (33) and Allan Nielsen (46) were on target in Yerevan on 16 August 1995, with Michael Schjønberg (20), Mikkel Beck (35) and Laudrup (58) registering either side of Artur Petrosyan (46) in the return fixture on 15 November 1995.

• More recently, they were paired in 2014 World Cup qualifying. Vardan Minasyan's side recorded one of the biggest results in their history by winning 4-0 at Parken in the first encounter on 11 June 2013, Yura Movsisyan (1, 59), Aras Özbiliz (19) and Henrikh Mkhitaryan (82) scoring. Armenia had lost 1-0 at home to Malta in their previous game.

• Morten Olsen's side restored some pride with a 1-0 win in the return fixture in Yerevan, Daniel Agger scoring from the penalty spot (73) after Varazdat Haroyan had been sent off for fouling Nicolai Boilesen in the box.

• The nations met in UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying in 1995, Denmark winning 3-2 away and 4-0 at home.

• Armenian and Danish clubs have met in four UEFA competition games, the Danish sides winning all four of them without conceding.

• Denmark's women's teams have an even more daunting record against their Armenian counterparts; Denmark beat Armenia 5-0 at home and 11-0 away in UEFA Women's EURO 2013 qualifying, while the Danes were 24-0 winners against Armenia in a 2007/08 UEFA Women's European Under-17 Championship first qualifying round tie.
