Napoli recovery shatters Juve
Saturday 31 October 2009Coach Ciro Ferrara described Juventus's 3-2 loss to SSC Napoli as "a punch in the face, a very painful one" after the visitors battled back from 2-0 down to win, before AC Milan moved up to fourth after beating Parma FC.
Remarkable recovery
Goals from David Trezeguet (35) and Sebastian Giovinco (54) had seemingly set Juve on their way to victory before Walter Mazzarri's side hit back with vengeance after the break. In their three previous matches under their new coach, Napoli had struck late goals to defeat Bologna FC and ACF Fiorentina before recovering from 2-0 down to draw with AC Milan thanks to two 90th-minute goals on Wednesday.
Hero Hamšík
Slovakia international midfielder Marek Hamšík was the hero against Juve, scoring either side of a Jesús Dátolo effort on 59 and 81 minutes to seal a remarkable victory. The win moved Napoli up to fifth in the table and prevented Juve from closing a four-point gap on leaders FC Internazionale Milano who are away to AS Livorno Calcio on Sunday.
Milan win
In the evening's other match, Marco Borielli scored once in each half, the second a bicycle kick in added time, to fire Milan up to fourth in Serie A. The Rossoneri, who trail leaders Inter by six points, are now undefeated in five matches in all competitions ahead of their meeting with Real Madrid CF in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
