FC Girondins de Bordeaux were the main beneficiaries from plenty of unexpected twists in the French title race while Chelsea FC are the new leaders in England. uefa.com rounds up the weekend domestic action.

Lyon stunned
Olympique Lyonnais and Montpellier Hérault SC occupied Ligue 1's top two positions going into the tenth round of fixtures. However, both suffered heavy away defeats, Les Gones going down 4-1 at OGC Nice and Montpellier 3-0 against Stade Rennais FC. Laurent Blanc's charges took full advantage by winning 3-0 at home to Le Mans UC 72 and AS Monaco FC slipped into second as two Nenê goals in the final four minutes helped them triumph 3-1 at US Boulogne. Olympique de Marseille were denied the chance to push the pre-weekend leaders even further back when their meeting with Paris Saint-Germain FC was called off after an outbreak of swine flu in the visitors' camp.

Chelsea clinical
Events could not have gone much better for Chelsea as they were the only side who began the weekend in the Premier League's top seven to record a victory. Frank Lampard scored twice as they beat Blackburn Rovers FC 5-0 while Manchester United FC blew the chance to reclaim first place after losing 2-0 at rivals Liverpool FC. Arsenal FC and Manchester City FC both surrendered two-goal leads to draw, Aston Villa FC were held after letting a late advantage slip and Tottenham Hotspur FC lost.

Barça hit six
FC Barcelona provided the perfect response to their shock defeat by FC Rubin Kazan, who remain a point clear at the Russian summit, as Seydou Keita's hat-trick helped them return to their irresistible best in a 6-1 cruise past Real Zaragoza. The win increased their Liga buffer over Real Madrid CF to three points following Los Merengues' goalless draw at Real Sporting de Gijón. It is as you were in Italy after FC Internazionale Milano, UC Sampdoria and Juventus all secured three points to stay out in front.

Fenerbahçe delight
The Bundesliga remains tight as leaders Bayer 04 Leverkusen drew 1-1 with BV Borussia Dortmund on Friday and Hamburger SV had an thrilling 3-3 draw at fourth-placed FC Schalke 04 on Sunday. Werder Bremen are now a point off the pace in third and FC Bayern München's victory sees them three points further back in fifth. Elsewhere, the eagerly-awaited meeting of the Istanbul giants saw Fenerbahçe SK earn a ninth win in ten league games with a 3-1 success against Galatasaray AŞ, Alex scoring twice, while Celtic FC took over in Scotland after Rangers FC drew 1-1 with Hibernian FC. The Eredivisie top three all won, while a landmark 59th league game without defeat wrapped up a fourth straight Estonian title for FC Levadia Tallinn.
