Germany held by Paraguay in Kaiserslautern

Germany 3-3 Paraguay
İlkay Gündoğan, Thomas Müller and Lars Bender were on target as Joachim Löw's charges twice came from behind to draw in Kaiserslautern.

Germany twice came from behind to share the spoils against Paraguay in Kaiserlautern.

José Ariel Núñez gave the visitors the perfect start with a goal in the ninth minute and they continued to assert their authority thereafter. Wilson Pittoni doubled the advantage just four minutes later but İlkay Gündoğan and Thomas Müller drew Germany level with two goals in the space of 13 minutes. Miguel Samudio restored Paraguay's lead before the break but the visitors failed to hold on with Lars Bender equalising 15 minutes from time.

Though Marco Reus, Gündoğan and Miroslav Klose came close to an early goal for Germany, Paraguay hit back and caused havoc in the home defence with Núñez racing clear to coolly slot past Manuel Neuer for the opener. The South American side stretched their lead shortly afterwards when Pittoni capitalised on Sami Khedira's failed clearance and volleyed in.

Germany responded in the 18th minute when neat play involving Reus and Mesut Özil laid on a chance which Gündoğan curled past Justo Villar. Both sides continued to create chances and Müller took his opportunity, latching on to a long ball from Mats Hummels and finishing with aplomb. However, there was still time for one more first-half strike as Roque Santa Cruz squared the ball for Samudio, who made no mistake from close range.

Paraguay sat back after the break in a bid to defend their slender lead and, apart from a Mario Gomez header, they appeared untroubled until Bender surged into the box and picked his spot to ensure the game ended all square.
