Switzerland undone by South Korea

South Korea 2-1 Switzerland
The visitors fell prey to a spirited second-half rally in Seoul, eventually succumbing to goals from Hong Jeong-Ho and Lee Chung-Yong.

South Korea produced a spirited second-half comeback to defeat fellow 2014 FIFA World Cup entrants Switzerland 2-1 in Seoul.

Ottmar Hitzfeld's side, who finished qualifying unbeaten, continued their impressive form by taking an early lead courtesy of Fulham FC midfielder Pajtim Kasami. Their momentum was punctured after the interval, however, strikes from Hong Jeong-Ho and Lee Chung-Yong securing the hosts an eye-catching victory.

The clock showed just seven minutes when Kasami marked his first international start with an emphatic finish from 18 metres. Switzerland then squandered several opportunities before a string of half-time substitutions swung the pendulum back in South Korea's favour.

FC Augsburg defender Hong restored parity shortly before the hour, beating keeper Diego Benaglio with a well-placed header from a corner. Better was to come for Hong Myung-Bo's charges, though, when Bolton Wanderers FC winger Lee – unmarked in the penalty area – nodded the winner three minutes from time.
