Dynamo 'hurting' after third straight final defeat

Romulo admitted heads were down in the FC Dynamo dressing room after Tino Pérez's side lost their third successive final, yet vowed to be back on this stage quickly.

Though the Sarhadchi scoreboard showed 5-2 to FC Barcelona, the UEFA Futsal Cup final arguably hinged on a single moment at the start of extra time when it was still 2-2. FC Dynamo's Tatù hit the post, allowing Marc Carmona's team to mount a breakaway in which Aicardo rattled the upright – only this time the ball rebounded favourably for Fernandão to head in. Dynamo's impressive defender Romulo, who had given Tino Pérez's side a first-half lead, acknowledged how close the Russian club had come but also admitted how much it hurt to lose a third successive showpiece.

Romulo, Dynamo defender
It's tough because we were so close to scoring at the start of extra time but then they broke away and got one themselves. It's difficult as it is our third successive defeat in the final, so it hurts a bit. But we need to get our heads up and concentrate on winning the Russian championship in order to be back in the UEFA Futsal Cup next season.

I'm sure we could have done more today – after all, we did lose, so that tells you that something was missing from our performance. But there's nothing we can do about it now, except to congratulate Barcelona and move on. We are satisfied with what we have done here, but we are really down because we've lost another final. Life goes on and we'll try to get back to this stage and to finally win the trophy.

Tino Pérez, Dynamo coach
First of all I want to congratulate Barcelona, the new European champions. I also express my gratitude to the local fans who came to watch – and thank our fans who travelled far just to support us. Finally I thank my players who gave their all today. They fought as hard as they could but the ball just wouldn't go in the goal.

Everybody saw that there's nothing to blame us for. We fought really hard and the severe injury to one of our players [Fernandinho] was proof of that. We were solid in all areas. There were many dead-ball situations we handled really well, and my team had so many dangerous shots on goal – but it just wasn't meant to be.
