MNK Split, finalists at the inaugural UEFA Futsal Cup in Lisbon earlier this year, kept their dream of more success alive by winning Group 7 of the 2002/03 UEFA Futsal Cup first qualifying round.
Tough teams
The Croatian contenders topped the pile in Bilovec, despite a tough three-team mini-tournament featuring hosts CC Jistenbik of the Czech Republic and FCK De Hommel of the Netherlands. Split started with a 3-1 victory against FCK on Saturday and never looked back.
Thrilling finale
They clinched the group and a place in the next stage on Sunday by defeating Jisenbik 4-1, rendering the final day's match meaningless in terms of deciding the table-toppers. Still Jistenbik ensured they took second place with a 5-4 victory in a thrilling game on Monday.
