Group 8: Niš safely through

KMF Niš have become the latest team to progress from the first qualifying round.

KMF Niš have become the latest team to progress from the first qualifying round of the UEFA Futsal Cup after clinching top spot in Group 8.

Hosts happy
The Yugoslavian side were hosting this three-team mini-tournament and they made home advantage count beginning with a 4-1 victory against MFK Turan Air Baku of Azerbaijan in Monday's opening game.

Bounced back
Turan bounced back with a 3-2 victory against Greek hopefuls Athina 90 SFA, but knew they could not pip Niš to the title because of the Yugoslavian team's win in the head-to-head meeting, the criterion which would be used if the two teams finished level on points.

Too strong
Niš could only be stopped by a defeat in their last game on Wednesday against Athina. However, they proved too strong for their rivals and condemned them to a 4-2 defeat that left them bottom and Niš top of the pile.
