FK Nikars Riga and AC Omonia are the first two sides through from the UEFA Futsal Cup Preliminary round to the Main round after winning their mini-tournament deciders on Thursday.

Nikars through
Nikars went into their Group C finale against hosts KMF Leotar Trebinje of Bosnia-Herzegovina needing a win to pip their rivals. The Latvian side were 3-0 up in the 16th minute with two Aleksejs Baranovs goalsand 4-1 to the good at the break. Miljan Vico's hat-trick pulled the score back to 7-5 with nine minutes to go, after Baranovc had also completed his treble, but in the last seconds Ilja Afanasjevs and Vadims Atamaņukovs secured Nikars a 9-5 win. They now go into Main round Group 2 against Czech hosts FK Era-Pack Chrudim, Hurtapu Łęczyca  of Poland and the winners of Preliminary round Group E. Futsal Panthers Köln beat JK Sillamäe Kalev 6-2 for third place.

Omonia delight
In Group B, hosts Omonia needed only a point against RCS Košice to progress, and won 5-2 with all the goals coming in the last eight minutes. In Main round Group 5 they take on Araz Naxçivan of Azerbaijan, Croatian hosts MNK Potpićan 98 and KMF Kolubara Lazarevac of Serbia. Nidaros Futsal Trondheim, the first Norwegian representatives in international futsal competition, finished third with a maiden win, defeating FC Seefeld Zürich 2-1.

Showdown
There will be a final-day showdown in Group E between Lithuanian hosts FK Nautara Kaunas and KF Tirana on Saturday. Nautara are top on goal difference after a 9-7 defeat of Malta's White Eagles FC while Tirana saw off FC Madriu of Andorra 4-2.

Close group
Three teams can still go through from Group F. Asa Tel-Aviv lead Erebuni Yerevan on goal difference after the two Matchday 1 winners drew 3-3, while Austrian hosts 1. FC Allstars Wiener Neustadt moved into contention with a 5-4 victory against Iceland's Hvöt Blonduosi. Allstars take on Asa on Saturday needing a win and also requiring Hvöt to avoid defeat against Erebuni.

First games
Two pools began on Thursday, with the second games on Friday. In Group A in Bulgaria, hosts MFC Varna overcame Cork City FC 8-3 and SC Tornado Chisinau gained a 4-1 win against first Turkish entrants Gazi Üniversitesi – the two victors do not meet until Sunday. However, in Group D the two teams on three points will face off in the second games on Saturday – Finnish hosts Golden Futsal Team having beaten Scotland's Fair City Santos 6-2 and English debutants Helvécia Futsal London overcoming experienced French campaigners Roubaix Futsal 6-4. On Friday the last pool to begin, the three-team Group G, starts with hosts KMF Zelezarec Skopje playing Denmark's Futsal BGA while Montenegro Stars Budva look on.
