Spain have been dealt a blow ahead of their opening UEFA Futsal EURO 2012 Group B encounter against Slovenia on Tuesday with the news that FC Barcelona pivot Fernandao is out of the tournament with a torn calf muscle.
Fernandao came to Croatia complaining of discomfort in his left leg and after undergoing tests the 31-year-old has been ruled out of action for the next three weeks, prompting the call-up of El Pozo Murcia's Miguelín as a replacement. Winners of the past three UEFA European Futsal Championships, Spain follow their Slovenia opener with a game against Ukraine in the same venue of Zagreb on 4 February.
