Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Hungary and Turkey are all in the running to host the expanded 12-team 2009 UEFA European Futsal Championship final tournament.

Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Hungary and Turkey are in contention to host the 2009 UEFA European Futsal Championship, the first futsal final tournament to have 12 teams.

October decision
Those nations' bids were approved today by the UEFA Futsal Committee and will go forward for final evaluations and site visits, with the eventual venue to be selected by the UEFA Executive Committee in October. If Belgium wins the contest, matches will be played in Charleroi and Antwerp; Bosnia-Herzegovina has proposed the capital Sarajevo; Hungary would use Budapest and Debrecen; while a Turkish tournament would be held in Istanbul.

2007 edition
Portugal is staging the 2007 finals from 16-25 November in Porto - with Spain, Italy, Ukraine, Russia, the Czech Republic, Serbia and Romania having qualified for the last edition in which only eight teams will be involved at the decisive stage.
