Four national associations have signalled to UEFA their interest in staging the 2012 UEFA European Futsal Championship.
Four bidders
UEFA said on Friday that Belgium, Croatia, FYR Macedonia and Slovenia had informed European football's governing body that they wished to submit a bid. The second phase will now begin with the distribution of the bid requirements. The candidates will be able to develop their bid dossiers, which they will have to present to UEFA by 15 October 2009.
March 2010 decision
This will be followed by an evaluation phase, including site visits, with bidders invited to the 2010 final tournament, the first to involve 12 qualifiers, which will run in Hungary from 19-30 January. Written evaluation reports will then be prepared for submission to the UEFA Futsal & Beach Soccer Committee, which will then recommend a host to the UEFA Executive Committee, who will then decide on a winning candidate around March 2010. Since the first Championship in 1999, past host nations have been Spain, Russia, Italy, the Czech Republic and Portugal.
