The UEFA Appeals Body today dealt with the appeal lodged by PAOK FC against the decisions taken by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body on 27 August, following incidents during their UEFA Europa League play-off first leg against SK Rapid Wien in Salonika four days earlier.
The Appeals Body decided to reject the appeal lodged by PAOK. Therefore, the decisions of the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body are confirmed. PAOK have been ordered to play their next three UEFA competition home matches behind closed doors, i.e. with no spectators present. The club have also been fined €150,000.
In addition, the Greek club will be excluded from the next competition for which they qualify in the next five years, with this ban being suspended for a probationary period of three years.
PAOK were charged with the improper conduct of supporters – crowd disturbances, pitch invasion, setting off and throwing of missiles and fireworks – and insufficient organisation. They won 2-1 but lost the second leg 3-0 and were eliminated from the competition.
