The latest UEFA international development tournament has served to underline the excellent structural base for football's future in Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan's Under-16 team beat Greece 3-0 in Baku to finish with maximum points from their three matches but more important was the emphasis on continual progress in the country.
The tournament – also involving Kazakhstan and Georgia – was played at the Bayil and Dalga Arenas in the capital city, both funded with HatTrick assistance, showing the benefits of the cooperation between the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) and UEFA.
"It is a big inspiration to get help from UEFA with training, education, infrastructure and the construction of stadiums," said former Azerbaijani international Aslan Kerimov. "Every football pitch constructed is a great step forward for the development of football in Azerbaijan."
The corresponding women's tournament at U16 level will be held at the same venues, starting on Thursday.
