The insights of some of Europe’s most eminent coaches, as well as the stories behind a host of important issues relating to football’s development, have been collected together in a special edition of UEFA’s publication for the coaching fraternity, The Technician.

The period covered in this comprehensive review stretches over a year, from January 2016 to February 2017.

In addition to fascinating interviews with the coach who masterminded Portugal’s UEFA EURO 2016 triumph, Fernando Santos, legendary Spanish coach Vicente del Bosque and vastly experienced English coach Roy Hodgson, The Technician 2016/17 contains features on topics ranging from goalkeeping and pre-season training to sports science and the relative age effect.

UEFA has published The Technician regularly since 1997, and its readers have been informed and kept up to date about the constant evolution of football from a coaching, technical, tactical and scientific point of view.

In early 2016, as part of the new-look UEFA Direct, it was decided to make The Technician a more regular feature in the pages of UEFA’s official publication.

“The Technican’s 19th season,” says UEFA’s chief technical officer Ioan Lupescu, “was a continuation of the magazine’s traditional focus on exclusive interviews with top coaching personalities and investigations into the key football development issues of the day.”

”We hope that you enjoy this standalone annual review and that you find the content thought provoking. We look forward to providing further interesting articles and interviews in The Technician’s twentieth year.”

The review is available to read in English, French and German
