Manchester United FC forward Cristiano Ronaldo has won the ESM Golden Shoe after scoring 31 goals in the 2007/08 Premier League season.
Eight-point margin
The 23-year-old, who is in Switzerland preparing for Portugal's UEFA EURO 2008™ quarter-final match against Germany, finished the domestic campaign eight points clear of his closest rival in the race to be Europe's leading goalscorer. Daniel Güiza of RCD Mallorca came second with 27 Primera División goals, while Klaas-Jan Huntelaar's 33 Eredivisie strikes, at 1.5 points a goal, earned the AFC Ajax forward third place in the ranking. The date of the presentation ceremony will be announced at a later date.

Only the leading five countries (Spain, Italy, Germany, France and England) on the UEFA Ranking have two as their multiplier. This is to emphasise the difference in (international) performance level between the clubs from those countries and those from the other nations.
A player cannot first play in a summer league (eg Norway) and then in a winter league (eg Spain) and combine the points total for each season.
