Valuable experience for U17 referees

The UEFA European Under-17 Championship in Italy gives a group of match officials a taste of final-round action.

Important step
This tournament is seen as an important step for the young match officials, who already possess international experience in UEFA competition. Many of today's top referees have gone on from U17 final rounds to officiate at some of the biggest games that football has to offer.

Moen the youngest
The youngest official at the tournament is 26-year-old Norwegian Svein Oddvar Moen. Robert Johnsdorf (Luxembourg), who was on the original list, has been replaced by Pavel Kralovec of the Czech Republic due to injury. Both fourth officials are on the Serie A list in Italy.
