PSG leapfrog Montpellier to Ligue 1 summit

Mathieu Bodmer's strike gave Paris Saint-Germain FC a 1-0 win at AS Saint-Étienne and took them top after Montpellier Hérault SC lost 4-2 at Évian Thonon Gaillard FC.

Paris Saint-Germain FC are the new Ligue 1 leaders after they edged AS Saint-Étienne 1-0 and Montpellier Hérault SC lost at Évian Thonon Gaillard FC.

Mathieu Bodmer scored the only goal as PSG moved three points clear at the summit after Montpellier had surrended the initiative earlier with a surprise 4-2 defeat. Younés Belhanda (47) and Olivier Giroud (54) had put the visitors ahead either side of Cédric Barbosa's strike but Saber Khelifa, Cedric Cambon and Brice Dja Djedjé struck in the space of seven second-half minutes to lift Évian up to 11th.

LOSC Lille Métropole missed the chance to leapfrog Montpellier into second after the thrilling 4-4 draw with ten-man OGC Nice. Franck Dja Djedje scored twice to give Nice a 3-2 half-time lead but the game swung in favour of Rudi Garcia's side after Eric Mouloungui's sending off (71). Eden Hazard and Florent Balmont had seemingly earned Lille maximum points but François Clerc equalised in added time to ensure a share of the spoils.

Olympique Lyonnais also failed to capitalise on the teams above them dropping points, going down 1-0 at Valenciennes FC. Elsewhere, AJ Auxerre scored twice in the final ten minutes to draw with Dijon FCO, Jires Kembo-Ekoko grabbed the only goal for Stade Rennais FC against FC Girondins de Bordeaux and bottom side AC Ajaccio picked up their third win of the season at FC Sochaux-Montbéliard.
