Genoa CFC's summer recruitment drive continued on Wednesday with the signing of FC Schalke 04 full-back Rafinha.
The 24-year-old has agreed a "multi-year contract" with Genoa after spending five years at Schalke. A reported €9m fee has been paid for Rafinha, who scored seven times in 153 German Bundesliga appearances for the UEFA Champions League group stage entrants.
Rafinha becomes Genoa's second addition this week after Sporting Clube de Portugal's Miguel Veloso traded places with Alberto Zapater on Tuesday. Capped once by Brazil, the former Coritiba FC right-back also follows Portugal goalkeeper Eduardo, Hungarian international striker Gergely Rudolf and Luca Toni in joining the Rossoblù this summer.
Gian Piero Gasperini's side finished ninth in Serie A last term and are therefore not in European competition this season.
