FC Bayern München's unblemished away league record came to an end when they drew 1-1 with 1. FC Nürnberg, a result which second-placed FC Schalke 04 could not capitalise on in the late Bundesliga fixture.
The leaders were on course on for their eighth successive top-flight win on the road, a run dating back to April, once Mario Mandžukić (3) swept in Thomas Müller's ball across the penalty area. Bayern were pegged back, however, a minute into the second half by a player they used to call one of their own, midfielder Markus Feulner beating Manuel Neuer from distance with a dipping, swerving shot.
Bayern – who played the last 14 minutes with a one-man advantage following the dismissal of Timo Gebhart – are eight points clear of Schalke, who had Kyriakos Papadopoulos sent off late on in a 2-0 loss at Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund remain in touch after beating strugglers FC Augsburg (4-2) and SpVgg Greuther Fürth (3-1) respectively. Elsewhere, there were victories for Hamburger SV, VfB Stuttgart and SC Freiburg.
