Eintracht secure first win, Stuttgart beaten

Eintracht Frankfurt secured their first Bundesliga win at the third attempt with a 2-0 victory at TSV Eintracht Braunschweig, but there was more misery for point-less VfB Stuttgart.

UEFA Europa League hopefuls Eintracht Frankfurt have their first points in the Bundesliga this term after prevailing 2-0 at promoted TSV Eintracht Braunschweig, although VfB Stuttgart have yet to get off the mark following a 2-1 loss at FC Augsburg.

Eintracht earned a 2-0 success at Qarabağ FK in their UEFA Europa League play-off opener on Thursday and they repeated the scoreline to get their domestic campaign up and running. Alexander Meier made their pressure count with a deflected effort on 52 minutes, with Stefan Aigner sealing the result to leave Braunschweig on zero points.

Stuttgart are also struggling to get going and followed up their 2-1 UEFA Europa League play-off loss at HNK Rijeka with another defeat. Halil Altıntop put hosts Augsburg in front on just six minutes and Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker doubled their lead, before Vedad Ibišević reduced the deficit from the penalty spot close to half-time. The visitors' hopes of pulling level received a blow when Ibrahima Traoré was dismissed with 20 minutes left.
