Drogheda United FC have been awarded a place in the 2011 Irish Premier Division after Sporting Fingal FC folded.
Drogheda, Irish champions in 2007, were facing life in the second tier after finishing bottom of the ten-team Premier Division in 2010. However, Sporting Fingal's decision to withdraw their application for a club licence has given them a reprieve from relegation.
In a statement Sporting Fingal, the 2009 FAI Cup winners, said: "This regrettable decision was taken after funding targets integral to the club's continued existence were not reached during the off-season. It is therefore with much disappointment that the club is left with no option but to cease trading after three seasons in the League of Ireland."
Derry City FC are also back in the top flight after one season away, promoted as Division One champions. The Premier Division kicks off on 4 March.
