AC Milan remain six points clear of Juventus at the top of Serie A after being beaten 1-0 by AS Roma at San Siro.
Unbeaten in seven league games since a 2-1 loss against Juventus in late October, the Rossoneri were vying to stretch their lead to nine points over second-placed Juve, who visit AC Chievo Verona on Sunday. Instead, Roma lifted themselves up to fifth – a point shy of the Bianconeri – thanks to Marco Borriello's decisive strike midway through the second half. On loan from Milan, the Italy forward now has seven goals to his name this term.
In the day's other fixture, AC Cesena improved their chances of climbing clear of relegation with a 1-0 victory against 11th-placed Cagliari Calcio. Though Cesena remain in the bottom three, they lie behind Brescia Calcio on goal difference alone thanks to Luis Antonio Jiménez's 17th-minute winner against Roberto Donadoni's side.
