Napoli down Novara to move fifth

A 2-1 defeat of Novara Calcio enabled SSC Napoli to move to within a point of fourth-placed Udinese Calcio, who were held to a goalless draw at AC Chievo Verona.

SSC Napoli revived their hopes of finishing in the top three in Serie A after securing a 2-0 success against Novara Calcio.

First-half goals by Edinson Cavani and Paolo Cannavaro ended a run of three successive league defeats for Walter Mazzarri's side, whose last Serie A win came on 9 March.

The Partenopei are up to fifth place, a point behind Udinese Calcio, who drew 0-0 at AC Chievo Verona, and two shy of S.S. Lazio, who host US Lecce on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Catania Calcio moved up to eighth thanks to a 2-0 win against Atalanta BC, while Parma FC also triumphed at home, overcoming Cagliari Calcio 3-0 with the help of two penalties.
