Juventus keep challengers Milan at arm's length

Serie A leaders Juventus maintained their three-point lead over AC Milan at the top of the table courtesy of a 1-0 win at now relegated AC Cesena while their title rivals overcame Genoa CFC.

Unbeaten Juventus remain three points clear of AC Milan at the Serie A summit as both teams left it late to record 1-0 victories in a rearranged round of matches.

Antonio Conte's table-topping side prevailed 1-0 at AC Cesena – relegating their opponents in the process – thanks to Marco Borriello's first goal for the club, a low drive following Mirko Vučinić's header down into his path 11 minutes from time. Andrea Pirlo had earlier failed from the spot for the second game in succession, hitting the upright after Vangelis Moras had handled.

Milan, meanwhile, increased Genoa CFC's relegation fears, Kevin-Prince Boateng (86) sliding a shot through the legs of visiting goalkeeper Sébastien Frey at the far post. Genoa, without a win since 5 February and a point above the bottom three, had been down to ten men since the 72nd-minute dismissal of Boško Janković.

Elsewhere, FC Internazionale Milano moved to within three points of Italy's third UEFA Champions League berth thanks to a 3-1 win at Udinese Calcio and a 2-1 defeat for S.S. Lazio, the current occupants of that position, at struggling Novara Calcio. Lying between the two is fourth-placed SSC Napoli, who maintained their push for an immediate return to Europe's premier club competition by beating US Lecce 2-0.
