• Having played football at school and college level, Jim Shaw obtained a degree in electronic engineering and a masters degree in systems engineering, going on to work for a major telecommunications manufacturing company for 30 years prior to spending nine years with the Northern Ireland Economic Development Agency as a business advisor.
• Having held numerous roles with local amateur side Nortel FC (he was treasurer at 30-years-old) he became chairman of the Northern Amateur League and a member of the local association council in County Antrim. Joined the Irish Football Association (IFA) council in 1989, serving as intermediate committee chairman on two occasions.
• Elected president of the IFA in November 2010, he said: "The aim going forward is to continue to develop Northern Ireland football across the three strands of international, domestic and grassroots and to have the IFA recognised as a 'best in class' medium sized Football Association within FIFA."
