Solskjær makes Premier League return with Cardiff

"I've always dreamed of being a manager in the Premier League," enthused former Manchester United FC striker Ole Gunnar Solskjær after taking up the reins at Cardiff City FC.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær has sealed a return to the English Premier League after being named as Cardiff City FC's new manager.

The 40-year-old former Norway and Manchester United FC striker finalised undisclosed terms after attending Cardiff's 2-0 defeat at Arsenal FC on Wednesday. The result left the south Wales outfit 17th in the Premier League, a point clear of the relegation zone.

"I've always dreamt of being a manager in the Premier League. It's a fantastic challenge for me. Cardiff are ready to take the next step and I hope I can take them there," said Solskjær. "I'm a very positive manager. I want to play a good style of football and yesterday showed what a threat we can be."

Solskjær, who assumes a post vacated by Malky Mackay on Friday, won six league titles during an 11-year spell with United and famously scored the last-gasp winner in the 1999 UEFA Champions League final. He remained at Old Trafford as a coach after retiring in 2007 before returning to Norway with Molde FK. There he won the championship in each of his first two seasons and the Norwegian Cup in November in his third.
