KS Dinamo Tirana are Albanian champions for the 18th time with four weeks of the season to go despite losing five of their last six matches.
Having been beaten on the first day of the season, Dinamo then were undefeated in 16 games but their most recent victory was on 7 March. And on Wednesday night they lost 2-1 at home to KS Teuta – only to be confirmed as league winners as defending champions KF Tirana went down by the same score against this season's surprise package, KF Laçi.
Dinamo took the lead after ten minutes against Teuta when Papa Diop turned in Bekim Kuli's strike. Seven minutes later Elton Muçollari equalised despite being surrounded by four Dinamo players as he shot. The home side lost top scorer Elis Bakaj to a red card before the break and the visitors cashed in when second-half substitute Albi Dosti wrapped up victory.
Despite the defeat, Shkelqim Muca's Dinamo were champions and the coach, previously a league winner as both player and manager with Tirana, said: "
I am very happy for our team and our players as they have accomplished the objective we had at the start of the season."
Next season Dinamo begin the UEFA Champions League in the second qualifying round while there is a tight race for the Albanian Super League's two UEFA Europa League berths. Besa are second, a point ahead of Laçi – chasing a UEFA competition debut – and two in front of Tirana. A further place is available when Besa meet KS Vllaznia in the Albanian Cup final on 9 May.
