
FC Lusitans snatched their first Primera Divisió title on the final day of the season, but were denied a domestic double by an own goal in the final of the Andorran Cup.

The side founded in 1999 by Portuguese immigrants emerged as serious contenders to established sides FC Santa Coloma and UE Sant Julià last season, but outclassed both this time round. They went into the final round of play-off games level on points with FC Santa Coloma, but Vicenç Marqués knew his side would be sure of the title if they could get the better of Sant Julià on the final day. Goals from Sebastià Bertran and Luis Miguel Dos Reis duly secured a 2-1 win. "We are a humble club with a great following and we've been in the shadow of other top-flight sides for some time," said Marqués. "We made a big step forward this year.”
Cup final: FC Lusitans 0-1 FC Santa Coloma
Having been denied the title, FC Santa Coloma took their revenge in the cup final, though Lusitans' wounds were to be self-inflicted. Luis Filipe Pinto put the ball into his own net just before half-time, and his team were unable to make amends. "We deserved this trophy because we were the better side on the day," said Santa Coloma coach Luis Blanco. "Although disappointed to have finished as runners-up in the league, victory in the cup means we have ended the season on a high note."

After playing an key role in his team's title success, defender Víctor Hugo Moreira was chosen as Andorra's Player of the Year following a poll of the top flight's captains and coaches.
One to watch: Christopher Pousa (FC Santa Coloma)
Chosen by the press as man of the match in the cup final, the Andorra Under-21 midfielder completed a fine campaign by receiving a call-up to the senior international side.
Surprise package: UE Santa Coloma
Lusitans' title success proved to be the shock of the season, but UE Santa Coloma surprised many with their performances, and even had a theoretical chance of winning the title going into the final day.
