Double chances
Santa Coloma's 2-2 draw with second-placed FC Rànger's preserved their four-point lead over their title rivals with only one match remaining and ensured their chances of a domestic double remain alive. Having won the Copa Constitució for the last five seasons, Santa Coloma are handily placed to book their place in another end of season showpiece with just a semi-final still to contest.
'Champions League dream'
"It seemed that we were about to win the title on a couple of occasions this season but it kept getting away from us," said Vicenç Marquès. "We have a hard-working team here that has been reinforced in every position. We knew the league was going to be very even but we have won lots of trophies and it was that experience that got us there this time around. Having the possibility of competing in next season's UEFA Champions League is a dream, something that is not possible for me to describe in words."
European triumph
Santa Coloma served notice of their growing reputation last July when they became the first side from Andorra to win a game in UEFA club competition – a 1-0 defeat of Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC in the UEFA Cup first qualifying round. With that triumph Santa Coloma took a big step forward and they can now look forward to further enhancing their reputation in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.
