Bosnia and Herzegovina goalkeeper Asmir Begović has been voted 'Idol of the Nation' 2012/13, ending the three-year reign of fellow Premier League man Edin Džeko.
The Stoke City FC custodian not only showed great form for his club but has only conceded three goals in FIFA World Cup qualifying to leave Bosnia and Herzegovina in sight of their first ever final tournament. Other nominees were Džeko, Vedad Ibišević, Sejad Salihović, Senad Lulić and Miralem Pjanić.
Begović said: "This award is a great honour and an obligation. I have to justify the confidence and the best way to do that is reaching the World Cup in 2014 in Brazil."
In the coaching category, national team boss Safet Sušić took the award while the league prize went to Amar Osim, who led FK Željezničar to the title. The staff award went to Elvedin Begić, president of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Football Federation (NFSBiH)
