A FIFA grassroots football seminar was held in Minsk at the end of October.

FIFA instructors Aleksandr Chernukho and Oliver Peltzer, along with staff from the Football Federation of Belarus (BFF), visited a rehabilitation centre for children in Vileika, where they put on a masterclass for those receiving treatment.

Chernukho and Peltzer subsequently held an interactive seminar consisting of various presentations given to youth football specialists from Belarus. Proceedings were concluded with a football festival for children, with around 70 boys and girls coming to Minsk from across the country. For many, it was the first time they had ever kicked a ball.

"The goal of this programme is to bring football closer to kids who have never played before," said Mr Peltzer. "Boys and girls should enjoy the game. You can't force them into it and there is no point putting pressure on them; let them enjoy it and allow their imaginations to flow."

BFF president Gennady Nevyglas added: "The BFF is actively promoting grassroots football. With UEFA and FIFA's help, we are becoming more dedicated to this, and the results are evident. This seminar is a very good example."
