• An amateur player in his youth, Sergei Roumas was born in Gomel and attended the High Military Financial School in Yaroslavl, graduating in 1990 with a diploma in the financial supply of military forces. He continued his studies at the Academy of Public Administration, where he became an expert in economics and finance, moving on to work in senior positions in banking and for a number of state and private companies.
• Married with four sons, Roumas was appointed as the chairman of state bank Belagroprombank on 22 September 2005, with the approval of the president of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko.
• "We have to double the number of amateur players in our country in four years as well as double the number of amateur competitions," said Roumas after becoming Football Federation of Belarus (BFF) president in April 2011. "I also support the idea of hosting UEFA youth tournaments between 2015 and 2017, and then if we decide to build a new national stadium, we can look to host the UEFA Europa League final."
